First Summer sunset maternity beach session of the new year! I forget how much I love beach sessions until I’m actually there photographing a session. Of course my scheduled beach dates always seem to have some rain during the day leaving us to wonder should we postpone for a better day, but it usually turns out beautiful for a late evening session and this shoot was no exception.
I like to start my beach sessions about 30 minutes to sunset. The sun is still quite high in the sky at this time giving off a nice natural light, but as the sun goes down, the lighting changes very fast becoming very warm and glowy. I always take the opportunity for a kiss shot right at sunset because everyone loves that right?
I do think personally, my most favourite light is right after sunset. The light is very soft and dreamy and no matter which direction you point the camera, everything looks just wonderful. Like the sun setting, this light also does not last long. I have to think and work fast with beach sessions, it keeps me on my toes 🙂
This was a bit of a double session, my maternity clients were visiting from over east and were staying with their very special friends so it was a great opportunity to capture them all together at one of Perth’s most beautiful beaches in Floreat.
