First Summer sunset maternity beach session of the new year! I forget how much I love beach sessions until I’m actually there photographing a session. Of course my scheduled beach dates always seem to have some rain during the day leaving us to wonder should we postpone for a better day, but it usually turns out beautiful for a late evening session and this shoot was no exception.
I like to start my beach sessions about 30 minutes to sunset. The sun is still quite high in the sky at this time giving off a nice natural light, but as the sun goes down, the lighting changes very fast becoming very warm and glowy. I always take the opportunity for a kiss shot right at sunset because everyone loves that right?
I do think personally, my most favourite light is right after sunset. The light is very soft and dreamy and no matter which direction you point the camera, everything looks just wonderful. Like the sun setting, this light also does not last long. I have to think and work fast with beach sessions, it keeps me on my toes 🙂
This was a bit of a double session, my maternity clients were visiting from over east and were staying with their very special friends so it was a great opportunity to capture them all together at one of Perth’s most beautiful beaches in Floreat.
I had the pleasure to meet this young couples newborn baby yesterday and she was an absolute DREAM to photograph! Not to forget to mention she was utterly gorgeous too!
This maternity session was held early in the morning at one of my favourite spots around Ellenbrook. Not many of my clients choose the morning time slot but I must say, it happens to be my favourite time of the day (not too long after the sun rises). It’s so peaceful and very quiet, with only the odd jogger or dog walker present, and you can still get some gorgeous backlit images just like the evening sessions.
These morning sessions are ideal for those with young children who like to get up at the crack of dawn, or early risers who need to get on with their day. Please do consider an early morning location session when thinking about booking your session. You can always go back to bed once its all done :))
This couple was such fun to photograph while they were visiting Perth for their baby moon. They were here for just 3 days and wanted an outdoor location session in a beautiful natural environment. At only 24 weeks pregnant, this first time Mum to be looked absolutely lovely during her Short & Sweet location maternity session. Shot in Ellenbrook before the sun set down for the evening.
These pretty twins were photographed in a very quick 5 minute session in their daycare playground after I finished a commercial session at the premises. It was a great opportunity to grab a few shots, they were such naturals in front of the camera! I do love outdoor shots of children. They seem to love the outdoors and throw in some playground equipment or two, and it gets even better!
If your child or children LOVE the camera, ask me about my micro mini sessions. These are super quick sessions (5 to 10 minutes) designed to get just a few professional shots
Beautiful couple expecting their first baby in just a few weeks! These lovely first time parents to be couldn’t make up their mind whether they wanted a studio or location setting for their maternity session. So we just did both! 🙂
Outdoor family photography sessions set in beautiful natural surroundings are definitely a favourite of mine, especially when kids are involved. The opportunity to go play at the park is just too irresistible for some, no matter the age. Its the perfect time to capture families connections with one another, resulting in natural, fun images to treasure forever.
All of my sessions are naturally edited to give a true representation of who you are, and where you were on the day.
I met this lovely couple before young Mister M was born for their first studio maternity session. Then I had the pleasure of meeting Mister M as a tiny 10 day old newborn. Now just a little over one year later, his little baby brother is set to make his entrance into the world. The couple was looking for something different this time around, foregoing the studio session for a combined maternity and family photo session. It was probably for the best because this little fellow was just so active, he didn’t walk, he ran! And I loved every second of chasing his happy little self. He provided me plenty of gorgeous photo opportunities, what a cutie! Now I am looking forward to meeting his baby brother due very soon.
I prefer to do all my outdoor location sessions either first thing in the morning, or later in the evening when the sun is not so high in the sky. This provides beautiful lighting conditions. As summer approaches the sun will be setting much later in the day and is quite often right before little ones bed time. I understand a lot of small children can get a little grumpy at this time as well. Usually however, the excitement of going somewhere away from home tends to make them forget all their troubles and they get that second burst of energy. But for all you early morning risers, a morning session is perfect when young ones are feeling fresh and eager to start the day.
Up until the end of November 2018 I am offering Holiday Mini Sessions. I absolutely love location maternity photography. Meet this beautiful young couple expecting their first baby. Pregnancy is such an exciting time and what better way to capture this moment with a relaxed professional photography session. We took the opportunity to get outside in beautiful Perth and do a location session in Ellenbrook.
I just adore these natural photo shoots in the great outdoors. I do all my location sessions in the hour before sunset as this results in gorgeous backlit shots which adds pretty speckles of light throughout the images. Something you just don’t get inside a studio. My location maternity clients wear their own clothing for these shoots. This means that there a no clothing changes involved like my more private indoor sessions. But it doesn’t matter at all because a wander around the park allowed us to get a variety of backdrops and a good full selection of maternity photos for my clients gallery.
These location sessions are ideal if you are wanting a more natural feel to your photographs. It is especially good if there will be younger children present, because what child does not enjoy a family trip to the park! :).
Location maternity sessions start at $295 and includes a full gallery download of all the edited high resolution digital images. All my sessions are “all inclusive” which means you receive all images seen in your gallery so theres no need to pick and choose which images you love the most. I met and photographed this little sweet pea when she was just 4 weeks new and I was so excited to see her again as a 1 year old. She was absolutely amazing during her photo session. It’s always extra special for me to see my little newborn baby clients growing up into happy, adorable children. This pretty little girl was such a natural and I loved spending every minute of the session with her. We had balloons, bubbles and finished off the session with a mini cupcake smash.
