1st Birthday Cake Smash & Splash: Mr S

This one was a new setup for me. Inspired by Mums image she sent through when booking her cake smash and splash for her little cutie. And no balloons!

Mr S was such a pleasure yo have in the studio for his first birthday session. His session ran quite typical of a one year photo shoot. He started off shy, but quickly warmed up and gave me all those beautiful smiles of his. Adorable! A quick change of outfit and we then brought out the cake. He was a little unsure of it at the start. He couldn’t quite make out if he liked it, or not. In the end he decided he didn’t like it. And wanted to get away fast.

The bath was a different story. He absolutely LOVED the bath so much. Just look how happy he is, he soon forgot all about the cake once he realised how much fun splashing in the prop bath was.

We all see those happy smiling bubs on the internet smashing into their cake with the biggest smiles. In reality thats not always the case. Usually 1 year old babies have not been exposed too much to cake and often, it is their first time ever trying some. So they can be quite wary of it. Still those shots are precious (tell them when they are older they didn’t like cake when they were younger! 🙂 Those confused looks, those little frowns and yes, the crying ones are all part of the story of the first birthday session.

This handsome guy still managed to get a full gallery of images for his parent to treasure for years to come.

If the 10.30am session doesn’t suit, you are welcome to contact me for alternative best times. Most parents like to schedule their session after baby first nap of the day if they live close by. For those longer drives an hour or more away, travelling during their nap time can be a bonus as they will wake up feeling refreshed after napping in the car.
